Here are some other free books that are available today at Amazon:
The Apothecary's Daughter by Julie Klassen
I haven't read this one yet, but it's next in line. [update: This was a very entertaining read]
Talk of the Town by Lisa Wingate
I'm in the middle of this one. It's really corny, with characters that are such stereotypes. I wouldn't pay to read this.
Love Yourself and Let the Other Person Have it Your Way
I didn't download this one--not my kind of thing.
More Blood, More Sweat and Another Cup of Tea
I haven't read it yet and I'm not sure, because I think it's a sequel. [update: I read a few pages and it just wasn't interesting at all. A paramedic recounting his experiences in blog-like format]
Fang
The Equivoque Principle This looks good, but a little weird. Not getting great reviews. [update: I'm in the middle of this one right now and it's actually a pretty good read]
Faking It by Elisa Lorello This one isn't free anymore, but it's still only 99 cents. I read it while it was free and actually really enjoyed it. Inspiring read about a woman learning self-acceptance and self-love. I even bought the sequel for another 99 cents! Ordinary World
Irresistable Forces I haven't downloaded this one...I'm not that into trashy romances anymore.
His Lady Mistress Another trashy romance book. I downloaded this one though, and haven't read it yet.
Star Wars Tribe Not my thing, but there are a bunch of Star Wars books for free, including this one.

Books with dead authors
So, copyright laws are pretty complicated and they've changed a lot and vary from country to country. In the US, anything published before 1923 no longer has a copyright, so it's in the public domain now. Most works published between 1923 and 1963 are also in the public domain, because their copyright had to be renewed in its 28th year and most authors didn't renew. Most books written after 1964 are still copyrighted.
Anyway, that means there's a ton of public domain books out there for free. Some of them are those things you were forced to read in high school, but some are really good. I'm working on a list here.
